GASLIGHTING: THE ART OF DRIVING MINORITY GROUPS MAD AT WORK

ABSTRACT This research aims to understand the extent which gaslighting actions occur in work environment. To this end, we conducted an empirical survey, visited 37 companies of different sizes, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo interviewed 72 workers psychographic traits. These interviews our field notes were subjected Critical Discourse Analysis. We identified two categories a priori, (“racial gaslighting” “misogynistic gaslighting”), emerging ones (“LGBTQIAP + -phobic “instrumental gaslighting”) built axial, called “pecuniary gaslighting”. The revealed that occurs all types is manipulation strategy exercised by heterosexual white men not only on non-hegemonic groups, but against their peers. study brings as managerial implications theory, discussion reflection how discriminatory practices have been naturalized marginalized, studies, organizational culture.
